1) Rebecca Alexander van Embden, birth 1706 Amsterdam, died before 1763 Nijkerk? On 8 Nov 1762 Ester Italiaander (also known as Ester Levij Vittoria), second child of Abraham Italiaander (Levij Vittoria) and Gracia Campos, died unmarried, intestate. There had been a testament in which she and her brother Joseph had left everyt hing to each other, but Joseph had since died. A kind of family-tree was made on behalf of the heirs, before Notary Geniets (13582/111, on 12 feb 1763). The part concerning the van Embdens: Branch 8 Mariana, daughter of Abraham Italiaander (Levij Vittoria) and Rebecca Hammelburg, died long ago. She had been married to Alexander van Embden, they had 8 children: Hartog, Abraham, Eliaser, Joseph, Mordochaij, Rachel, Benjamin and Rebecca . The first six are still alive, the last two have died. Rachel is the widow of Moses Asser, Benjamin had 4 children with Helena van Rees: Mariana who is married to Calmer Wolff, Jochem, Alexander and Mindele, all living. Rebecca, long dead, has been married to Isaac Ezechiel Cohen. They had 5 children: Mariana, Merla, Alexander, Mindele and Ezechiel. Mariana married to Joseph Salomon Cohen, Merla to Abraham Eleaser Voorsanger, Mindele unmarried adult. The heirs gave power of attorney to Isaac Italiaander Mordechaijs, Mordechai van Embden, Jacobus Benedictus, and Meijer Abraham Sadok (all related). The minors among the heirs, Jochem, Alexander and Mindele van Embden (both parents had died), an d Ezechiel Isaac Cohen (his mother had died), would be represented by a suppoost of the Weeskamer (Orphan Board). Possibly more facts are described in the documents of the Weeskamer, but those of that period are badly damaged, and not available fo r public viewing. Married 16 Jun 1726 Amsterdam to: Isaac Ezechiel Cohen, birth ± 1694 Amersfoort, died before 1772 Nijkerk?, son of Ezechiel Salomon Cohen and Marritje Meerle Emanuel Cohen Tobacco merchant, took over his fathers business in Nijkerk. Population register Nijkerk 1749 (Archief Nijkerk): Izaak Coheen, factoor, wife, 2 children 5-10, 1 child 10-15, 1 child >15 (those <5 were not counted), owner of three houses. |
