Born January, 13, 1778; died January, 27, 1859. He was the first Jewish Baronet of the United Kingdom and also made Baron de Palmeira in Portugal. In 1846 he was authorized by Royal Licence to use his Portuguese honou rs in the UK. Sir Isaac Lyon was an officer of the Rose of Brazil and was invested with the Order of the Tower and Sword. He was one of the most prominent English Jews of his time and a very fortunate banker. His second daughter Rachel was marrie d to Henri Salomon d&Aelig;Avigdor. |
