David VAZ DIAS, birth 12 Mar 1886, died 1958, buried 22 Jan 1958 Beth Haim, son of Mordechai de Jacob VAZ DIAS and Rachel CORTISSOS He was employed as a 'Sigarenfabrikant' (Cigar maker) in Amsterdam. 1) Mordechai VAZ DIAS, birth 29 Jul 1917, died 5 Apr 1945 Mordechai herdacht op zerk vader to Beth Haim 4 B/15-68. Last living in the Amstelkade 42, Amsterdam until 3-9-1944. He was an Assistant Accountant Mordechai Vas Dias lived at 42 Amstelkade in Amsterdam. His brother received a declaration dated 18 December 1946 from the Information office of the Dutch Red Cross stating that Mordechai Vaz Dias had been killed on 6 September 1944 in Auschwitz . His brother refused to accept this because he had evidence that Mordechai had been sent from Auschwitz to Dachau on 28 January 1945 and that he had arrived there alive and then died on 5 April 1945. The Red Cross subsequently changed the plac e and date in his death notice. Jewish Historical Museum, Documents collection, inv.nr 6828, 6829, 6830 Mordechai was picked up and transported to Westerbork. At the end of January 1945 he was moved from Auschwitz to Dacchau where he was murdered on 5 Apr 1945. to: Rachel SIMONS |
