Manus van Dijk, birth 26 MEI 1856 Zaltbommel, died 30 OKT 1934 Rotterdam, son of Philip (Oeri, Feis) van Dijk and Eva Hartog He was a religious teacher in Doesburg from 1878-1882, earning 450 guilders a year, and in 1884 earning 240 guilders, as reported in 'Joods leven in Doesburg' by Hans Krooger. He also was a religious teacher in Heenvliet. Married 17 Aug 1880 Doesburg to: Mientjen Katz, birth 9 MRT 1859 Doesburg, died 24 Jun 1936 Rotterdam, daughter of Benjamin Katz and Sybilla Philipson On August 11 1886 they moved from Heenvliet to Rotterdam, Prinsenstraat 2a, Paradijslaan 33b and Paradijslaan 49a. On 27 June 1888 Leentje Kats, Mientjen's sister born 1 Nov.1853 in Doesburg, moved in with them. She moved on 30 July 188 to Enschede. And on August 1 1924 their granddaughter Mientjen Eva Katz born 2 Nov. 1910 in Doesburg moved in to leave agai n on 27 Aug. 1925. 3) Eva Johanna van Dijk, birth 21 Dec 1886 Rotterdam, died 1976 Amsterdam Witnesses at marriage: her uncle Samuel van Dijk, salesman, 57 yrs old; Benjamin Frankfort her brother-in-law living in Deventer; Philip Benjamin van Dijk, brother of the wife, spouse and uncle Alexander Hecht, 34 yrs old. Married 4 Aug 1909 Rotterdam to: Leon Vomberg, birth 29 OKT 1880 Deventer, died 1963 Amsterdam, son of Joseph Vomberg and Rosetta Kats He was a teacher in Rijssen and moved to a position as a French highschool teacher at the 2nd O.H.S (a school specializing in business subjects) in Amsterdam. He also was a tranlator. The family first was able to receive a 'Barneveld' certificate, which greatly delayed their deportation. Towards the end of the war they were in Terezin (Theresienstadt). Towards the end of the war the children were exchanged with a group of inma tes via Switzerland to Palestine in exchange for trucks. They lived in Amsterdam, Fred.Hendrikplantsoen 91 and E.de Wolffstraat 6: 438 Sochnut Holland, sent 24/12/43 by lettermail 2426/381/7/989 to alya mandate government, received there M/438/43 and transfered 30/12/43 to government secretariat. Transfered on 24/12/43 by Sochnut to representative in Co nstantinople, and on 4/1/44 to London by 'airgraph'. the certificate was sent by wire on 26/12/43 to the Red Cross in Geneva.
