3) Herman Izak Isaacs, birth 31 Jul 1878 Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Nederland, died 16 Sep 1943 Randwick, Sydney, Australia [bollegraaf trees.FTW] It appears that Herman Izak, after emigrating to England at the end of the 19th century, anglicised his name to Herman Isaacs prior to his marriage in London in 1903. [1901 English Census; marriage certificate] Note: Herman's name in trees on the web is often given as Herman Izak Bollegraaf. There seems to be no written or contemporary oral evidence suggesting either Herman or his father ever used the name Bollegraaf (which Salomon's grandfather adopte d in 1812) . Herman emigrated to Australia by working his passage in 1912 [source: crew manifest SS Ballarat; Herman Isaacs' Australian immigration file, Australian National Archives]. At this time Elizabeth and the children remained in London. In 1913 Elizabeth emigrated to Australia with five children. The youngest, Hartog, died in an accident on board the SS Ballarat on 24 November 1913 en route to Australia..
