Zvi Hirsch (Herts) Bar Nathan (Nathans), birth 13 Mar 1761, died 28 Apr 1841 Arnhem Holland, buried Arnhem Holland Zvi Hirsch bar Nathan was the ancestor of the Nathans families from Arnhem Holland. He came to Arnhem about 1790 and called himself Herts Nathan, this becomes his official name in 1812 when during the reign of Napoleon everybody had to have an official name. Zvi came from Germany(possibly Bacharach). His brother David Bar Nathan took the official name of Bacharach. The family name Nathan was changed to Nathans during his lifetime, but his grandson Wolf and his descendants kept the name Nathan.
