Jacob Wolf Zeev Smolizanski, birth 1853 Kalvarija, Lithuania, died 1932 Rishon LeZion, Israel, son of Mordechai Zvi Smolizanski and Rachel Gedalia Rosengold
Jakov Zeev Smolizanski was the president of the grain exchange inLiepaja, Latvia.
He sent his sons to study agriculture at the Mikve Israel AgriculturalSchool in Palestine in the
beginning of the 1880's. They presumably came with their uncle MosheNissim in 1884.
In 1890 Zeev came to Palestine (together with his parents Mordechai andRachel, who are
buried in the old cemetery of Rishon LeZion)
In Rishon Zeev was one of the four founders of Carmel Mizrachi (theRothschild Winery)
and was it's director for many years, until his death in 1932.
He is buried under the Sycamore tree in Rechov Rothschild. to:
