to:
Benedictus Ben Furth, birth 11 Apr 1889 Amsterdam, Holland, died 6 Feb 1945 Wijhe, Holland, son of Simon I Furth and Vogel Verdoner
He and his family lived in Amsterdam during the war. After the war in 1946 his widow Annie went to Zandvoort with her sons.

I sent them some corrections as well regarding my fathers decease. He died
on 06/02/1945 near a small village in the east part of Holland "Wijhe".

After he was arrested in January in Amsterdam, he was transported by a
German police truck to Westerbork. On the way they were shot at by an
Allied fighter plane. It was a tragic coincidence. My father had been
standing since departure from Amsterdam. A lady said: mister Furth don't you
want to sit down for a change? My father started to refuse but after so
insistence he sat down and was deadly injured by the firing a little later.
All the other prisoners fled, were assisted by the local people and
survived. He was buried in Wijhe and after the war in 1945 reburied in
Amsterdam.

Some 12 years later he was reburied again at the field of honour in Loenen,
close to Apeldoorn.
