He worked as a butcher in the slaughterhouse on the Galgenkampsweg in Meppel, but was dismissed here in 1941 because of his Jewish origin. On 17 August 1942 he was brought to the labour camp Linde. 2) Jetje Godfried, birth 5 Mar 1906 Meppel, Holland, died 25 Jan 1943 Auschwitz, Poland from Appeldorn. Jewish psychiatric institution. From 1909 onward, Jewish psychiatric patients received the most advanced treatment here amid the surroundings of the Apeldoorn forest. The Apeldoornse Bos expanded rapidly and had 900 patients by 1938. In the nigh t of 21 to 22 January 1943 the Apeldoornse Bos was æemptied&Aelig;. Patients and nurses were sent to Auschwitz, where almost everybody was killed immediately upon arrival. The left column lists both the inhabitants and the resident staff. |
