Salomon Haringman, birth 31 Aug 1884 Amsterdam, Holland, died 4 Jun 1943 Sobibor, Poland, son of Isaac Abraham Haringman and Maria van Frank He did wholesale meat distribution. He first did it with horse and wagon and later with a three wheeled vehicle. On Friday night he made a big spread in his home with meat for the family. He first lived on the Lepelstraat 70 Amsterdam in the old Jewish quarter and on 2/10/1931 moved to new south of Amsterdam on the Yselstraat 5. He had a piano in his house. When called up to go to the "east" and he needed a metal cup he went to his brother-in-law Ben Furth who gave it to him and left his "mahzor" of the three festivals for safekeeping with him. In 1989 his son Arthur Furth gave it to Shlomo Haringman . 1) Isaac Haringman, birth 19 Jul 1911 Amsterdam, Holland, died 9 Jul 1943 Sobibor, Poland was born in Lepelstraat 70. He worked with his father in meat distribution from wholesaler to retailer. He managed to escape from Westerbroek once but was caught in the Razia and sent to Sobibor. to: Margretha Waas, alias: Greta, birth 15 Feb 1910 Amsterdam, Holland, died 15 Apr 1948 Amsterdam, Holland, buried Diemen, Holland, daughter of Sander Pinhas Waas and Eva Slap She had to go out and work at a young age to help support the family. She worked at the Hollandia-Kattenburg textile factory.She was a seamstress and was active in the labor union of garment workers participating in the demonstration for an eigh t hour work day. She managed to hide in Heerlen with the Bindels family but left them. She survived the war and took her two children from Hoensbroek in September 1944, first in Maastricht and then back to Amsterdam. She tried to come with Aliy a Bet to Israel but was sick with cancer and died before she could realize her desire. She is buried in Diemen. She was a good looking woman, very clean, with a sense of humor and well liked by her family. |
2) Vogelina Haringman, alias: Lientje, birth 23 Jan 1913 Amsterdam, Holland, died 26 May 1945 Halmsted, Sweden she was engaged to Hartog Kijl, brother of Ies Kijl but broke the engagement because he gambled. She was in Vught till 1944 and then in Birkenau, Reichenbach, Langen-Bilau, Beendorf, Minden, and Hamburg where she was freed on May 1, 1945. and cam e on a bus of the Red Cross to Sweden where she died on 28 may 1945. and is buried in Halmstadt.
