Leonard Hartog Schabracq, birth 2 Sep 1749 Amsterdam, 9 Sep 1749 - 26 Elul 5509 - circumcision of Jehoeds Leib ben Tswi Hirsj Seg"L Sj'abr'ak, died 26 May 1835 Amsterdam, Leonardus Schabracq died 26 May 1835 Zeedijk 143, 85 yrs. Son of Hartog Schabracq and Catharina Ezechiels. Married here to Aleydis Cohen. Left no children. Informants Petrus van Genabeth 61 yrs, no occupation, nephew and Alexander Emanuel Schabrac q 21 yrs cigarmaker, son of Hartog Isaac Levie and Caatje Ezechiel Cohen
Though born in 1751/52 according to his marriage document, he must be Jehoeda Leib who was circumcized in Sep 1749. It matches his age at death perfectly. In a transport-act in 1772 all the children of the family are mentioned, he is named Lion . He is also Lion when he receives his share of his fathers inheritance. Later, in business, it's Leonard.
On 8 Nov 1774 Leonard signed a contract with Benjamin Nathan de Jong to process diamonds, for a period of two years (Notary Creighton 14040/141). The company was indeed dissolved (Notary Geniets, 8 Jan 1777 13749/19). Benj. Nathan de Jong was a ma ternal uncle of his later wife.
Later in the 1770's he has a company with his brother Ezechiel, involved in all sorts of trade, coffee, tea, sugar, tobacco etc. They also owned ships.

Married 18 Jan 1784 Amsterdam to:
Aaltje Engel Emanuel Cohen, birth 1758 Amsterdam, died 24 Dec 1835 Amsterdam, Aleijdis Cohen, 78 yrs.old, widow of Leonardus Schabrack, left no children, nothing else known, lived at the Lindedwarsstraat. Informants weren't family members., daughter of Emanuel Philip Cohen and Judith Nathan
1) Catherina Schabracq, birth ± 1785, died 12 Oct 1825 Amsterdam, Registered 14 Oct 1825 the death of Catherine Schabracq on 12 Oct in the Binnengasthuis, age 40, born in Amsterdam, married to Hendrik Kannegieter.
I have real proof that Catharina was a daughter of Leonard and Aaltje. There was only one Schabracq family, Ezechiel had a daughter Catharina later, Emanuel wasn't married yet. Leonard and Aaltje died leaving no children behind, but by then Cathar ina had already died.

Catharina Schabracq was married to Heinrich Kanngiesser, merchant, later bookkeeper, born abt 1790 (derived from his age at birth/death of children). They had at least three children:
- Hendrik Diedrich Kanngiesser born 26 may 1818 A'dam (SAA births 4-148V) died 2 jun 1818, five days old (SAA deaths 4-169V)
- Maria Catharina Adelaide Kanngiesser born 12 dec 1819 A'dam (SAA births 9-48V) She married in 1855, in Amsterdam.
- Leonora Sophia Juliana Kanngiesser, born 21 feb 1825 A'dam (SAA births 1-143V) died 19 mar 1825, four weeks old (SAA deaths 1-182)
When Maria Catharina Adelaide married her father had also died. The marriage supplements don't hold death-certificates.

I found no marriage in Amsterdam for Catharina and Heinrich. At the registration of the first child one of the informants was Johannes Lodewijk Kanngiesser, a brother maybe? His original name was Johann Ludwig Kanngiesser, born in Jever (near Witt mund, Ost-Friesland) in 1787. Son of Dirk Kanngiesser 1751-1804 and Maria Elisabeth Kroepelin, stll living when he married in 1817 in Amsterdam. Of those same parents I found:
Hermann Friedrich Kannengiesser b 1796 Jever, married 1827 in Herford Westfalen (familysearch.org)
Diedrich Kanngiesser b abt 1781 Jever, married 1812 in Nijmegen, he was a Lutheran vicar, later his name is written as Dirk.
Juliana Frederika Kanngiesser b abt 1799 Jever, d 1884 in Utrecht 85 yrs old, unmarried daughter of Frederich (!) Kanngiesser & Maria Elisabeth Kroepelin.

The names Diedrich and Juliana in the names of the children are another strong clue that Heinrich was part of that family from Jever.
