Event: event Jan 1774 sale of seat in synagogue of Amsterdam Before the trustees of the jewish community of Amsterdam appears aluf katsin Itsak ben Yissachar Ber Blowits, with the will of the late Eli' ben k"h Leib Shamash z.l. in his hands, 'as we undersigned have seen with our own eyes', the will being ma de up before notary Andreas v.Alphen in Leiden on Aug 30th, 1768; in this will mr. Eli' endowed the orphan Ester, daughter of his late brother Chaim z.l. with this seat in the great synagogue, which belonged to him, and nominated as guardian there of mr. Itsak [her stepfather] aforementioned; and now according to this will and upon request of mr. Itsak, the 'edele achtbare heren schepenen' [the city councillors] 'may their pomp be heightened', have given 'qualification' to mr. Itsak on No v 26th, 1773 to sell this seat according to the regulations of our community , and thus this seat was now sold to aluf katsin Kosman ben late k"h Joseph Baruch z.l [Mocher Sfarim] for the amount of fl. 350,- d.d. 2 Teveth 5534.
