Will of Abraham v.Embden & Alida Simon Levij, married couple at Houtgragt:
to Alida will be allotted everything due to her according to the nuptial contract of 3 Aug 1741 before notary Jan Barels, and as well two seat for females in the Great Synagogue. Alida had brought in more than mentioned in the contract.
Abraham leaves as legacy to his son Samuel all of his printed books, to Alida a bed with its utilities, and as long as she will live and does not remarry, the use of all furniture , house jewellery and further contents, including his silverware , nothing excepted.
He appoints as unique and general inheritors his children Rebecca, married to Mordachaij v,Embden, and .usaac v.Embden, both born to the late Rachel Italiaander, and the children born or still to be born from his current spouse, everyone head fo r head, and in equal parts.
Alida leaves as legacy to her son Samuel a female seat in the great Synagogue [Abraham had bought two of them with her money], and as unique and general inheritor her children born to her and the will maker, or still to be born, without interfere nce of the 'Weeskamer'

Event: event notarial act Isaac Moses de Jonge & Salomon v.Minden MD are committed on 6 Sep 1786 before notary M.c.Kessler (16602/284) for the inheritance left by Marianna of fl. 2100,- on behalf of the children from her marriage.

on 16 Nov 1785seven witnesses had declared before notary Kessler (16600/352) that they had been the Saturday before, 12 Nov 1785 at the home of Isaac v.Minden at Joode Groenmarkt. And that they had visited there the upper front room, where the spo use of the requester Marianne Abraham van Embden had been lying in illness in her bed. She had at that time declared in 'the jewish language': I nominate and wish my husband to be the guardian over my minor children, without interference of the 'W eeskamer'.

After Marianne's death on 14 Nov 1785 at the time of execution of her inheritance for her children, her brother Isaac Abraham v.Embden and her cousin Joachim v.Embden were involved. Her children were: Eva, 10 yrs, Samuel, 9 yrs, Salomon, 8 yrs, Ja nette, 7 yrs, Alexander, 6 yrs, Mindele, 5 yrs & Levij v.Minden, 4 yrs.

Philip v.Minden, also from this town, all his furniture, house jewellery and further interior of his estate, nothing lacking, as well as all his books including a Torah roll with accessorie s (together valued at less than fl. 400,-), considering that he, Salomon, since Feb 8th this year has had the privilege of enjoying at the house of Philip v.Minden and continues to enjoy free residence, food and drinks at his table and all tha t he deserves in health and sickness, and furthermore under condition that these services will continue to be supplied by his son Philip v.Minden all his days for free.

Salomon van Minden wonend binnen deze stad schenkt aan den Heer Philip van Minden meede binnen deze stad al zijn meubelen, huijscieraden en verdere inboedel niets daarvan hoe ook genaamt uijtgesondert alsmeede alle sijne boeken waaronder meede beg repen een boek Moses met sijn toebehoren (ingevoegd: comparant verklaart goederen geen 400 gld waard te zijn) en sulks ter consideratie dat hij comparant sedert den agtsten Feb deses jaars van sijn zoon voorn Philip van Minden heeft genoten en no g geniet, ten huijse van hem Philip v Minden, vrije huijsvestiging, kost en drank aan sijn tafel en wijders al hetgeene hij compt soo in gesonde als zieken staat, nodig heeft; en wijders onder conditie dat hij compt sijn leven lang gedurende doo r sijn zoon meergemelde Philip v Minden ten huijse van hem Phil v M sal moeten werden voorzien gratis van logement, kost en drank aan sijn tafel, en verder van al het nodige so in gezonde als zieken staat.
